Sometimes references are made up. If the check discovers false references, it is a way for an employer to weed out a job candidate for consideration.
Finding out if a job candidate is using someone else’s social security number fraudulently is proof of identity theft. If lapses in a job candidate’s work history are discovered, it throws suspicion on their activities if they have had long stretches between jobs. False claims of enrollment at an institution, or degrees or certifications not earned, indicates they are being dishonest to get a position they probably are not qualified for, or to beat out other candidates, who may be better qualified than they are.
Particularly valuable information we can provide to employers is information on whether a potential hire has a criminal background. Our criminal background check does not use an automated system because such systems oftentimes find outdated information, possibly many years old. Instead our PI’s hand-search and research all the information you require. They can verify, check for accuracy, and ensure all information is current. Normally this kind of information is only available to law enforcement (except for public records), but as licensed PI’s we also have access to such information.
